Fairfax Station Forum In keeping with the motto of our museum, To Preserve the Past for the Future, the Fairfax Station Forum, sponsored by the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum, provides a venue for the discussion of topics of local interest to the people of northern Virginia. These Forum sessions, which start of 7:30pm, are held quarterly, the second Wednesday of February, May, August, and November, at our museum at 11200 Fairfax Station Road, in Fairfax Station, VA. Topics include everything from Revolutionary and Civil War history, transportation, economics and commerce, schools, churches, and key personalities.
Quarterly Forums November 14, 2007 7:30 "24 hours at Manassas Junction" Mark Trbovich, will present "24 hours at Manassas Junction". This presentation covers Gen. Jackson's flank attack of the Union logistical supply base at Manassas just prior to 2nd Manassas. It also describes the Union Army coming through Fairfax Station on their way to Union Mills, the battles at the Bull Run Bridge (east of Manassas), and the Kettle Run Bridge (southwest of Manassas). Mark is a member of the Bull Run Civil War Roundtable and numerous preservation groups. He has personally researched and installed numerous Civil War Trails Markers throughout Prince William County. Speaker Mark Trbovich Previous Quarterly Forums November 8, 2006 7:30 “John Singleton Mosby’s Exploits in Northern Virginia” Speakers Gregg Dudding and Don Hakenson are noted authors and excellent lecturers on John Singleton Mosby. They cover very interesting aspects and tidbits of the Gray Ghost during the Civil War from his noted activities to his infamous exploits and daredevil actions. Their enthusiasm surely will entertain and enliven the audience. Dudding has authored several books on Mosby. Hakenson has authored “This Forgotten Land”, an award winning book covering Civil War sites in south-eastern Fairfax County. The original book quickly sold out and a revised edition is currently available. Speakers Don Hakenson and Gregg Dudding
